Alfred Hitchcock

Short Bio
Alfred Hitchcock (13th August 1899-29th April 1980) was a British film director and producer, he specialised in techniques of suspense and psychological thriller genres. Hitchcock moved to Hollywood in 1956 and became an American citizen. He made himself a distinct directing style and became well known in the thriller genres. Hitchcock used the camera to make the audience feel as if they were within the film, taking on the view of a character, this maximised empty, fear or anxiety. Many of Hitchcocks films have twist endings and thrilling plots.

Hitchcock directed over 50 feature films in a career over 6 decades, he was often regarded as the best British film maker and came first in a poll in 2007 which said "Unquestionably the greatest film maker to emerge from these islands, Hitchcock did more than any other director to shape modern cinema, which would be utterly different without him. His flair was for narrative, cruelly withholding crucial information (from the characters and viewers) and engaged the audience like no one else"
