Audience research results/analysis of interviews

From our research we have found that people do no like the usual, stereotypical thriller with chases in the dark and classic scenes but more psychological thrillers that have used unexpected twists and things that take you by surprise. As a result we will definitely think about using a psychological thriller theme in our coursework piece.
We also found that people prefer seeing women as main characters because they are not used as much in thriller films so would be a different way to interest the audience. Also less known actors/actresses make more of an impact because you do not know what they are like so there could be any twist to the story.

We found that the 'unknown' was what people feared in thriller films because people do not like to be tricked or surprised suddenly which could give us an idea that we should not think to use this 'surprising' technique as it is also used frequently.

People also like thrillers because people tend to be quite curious and always manage to thrill the audience. Even though some are afraid, thrillers always manage to draw people in because they always want to know what happens next.

We also found that people find black and white scenes quite creepy as you cant distinguish what sort of day it might be and makes the scene seem a lot simpler and quite mysterious.
